Vice-Admiral Arthur Charles Burgoyne Bromley, Royal Navy (16 September, 1847 – 25 October, 1909) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

Bromley was the son of Sir Richard Madox Bromley, K.C.B., an accountant-general of the Navy.[1]

He entered the Navy in 1860, and served as a Sub-Lieutenant in the Abyssinian campaign in 1868.

Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 1 June, 1869[2], he was Lieutenant in the Challenger during her cruise around the world in 1872-1876.

Bromley was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1882.[3]

Bromley was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1888.[4]

He was appointed in command of the battleship Hood on 29 September, 1897.[Citation needed]

Bromley was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 2 November, 1901, vice Noel.[5]

He was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral dated 8 March, 1906, vice Parr.[6]
